How We Can Help

Los Angeles County is launching the Utility Relief Program to provide assistance to residents living in proximity to the Chiquita Canyon Landfill. The Utility Relief Program will provide financial assistance to those who took proactive action to mitigate the odor impacts to their homes, including using air conditioning continuously during hot summer months.

Qualifying for Help: Priority Tiers

To receive relief funds, your address must be located in a Tier 1 or Tier 2 zone. Tier 1 residents are those nearest to the landfill and will be given priority in the Relief Programs. After all Tier 1 applicants have been processed, those living in Tier 2 will be processed based on available funding.

Program Guidelines

The Utility Relief Program is offered to reimburse certain designated residents of Val Verde, Castaic, and surrounding unincorporated communities for their efforts to mitigate odors believed to be emanated by the Chiquita Canyon Landfill. Please review the Program Guidelines to confirm eligibility and application requirements.

Every Wednesday startting November 1 through January 31, 2024, 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Sessions will be held December 12, 2023, instead of December 13.
